Is it a Guitalele or a Guilele?

No, despite the similarities, it isn’t. The main difference lies in the tuning, which is identical to a six-string classical guitar. Additionally, we’ve introduced innovative design features to amplify acoustic volume and enhance low-frequency response, making it a perfect replica of a classical guitar. However, it can be tuned to A or high E using a specific string set like our 187C.

Why hasn’t anyone else miniaturized a classical guitar like you have?

Think back to the 1950s, when the transistor revolutionized radios by making them portable. Similarly, our "transistor" is represented by the innovative bioplastic strings we call ‘Sugar,’ exclusive to our production.
This unique bioplastic, loaded with micronized iron, delivers superior performance compared to traditional Fluorocarbon strings: up to 24% more sustain and an 18% increase in sound power. Thanks to this cutting-edge technology, we’ve made it possible to miniaturize a classical guitar while maintaining its tonal characteristics.

Are all the strings made of Sugar?

No, the six strings are specifically designed with unique materials and constructions to ensure uniform tone and balanced acoustic volume.

  • First and second strings: made of Sugar enriched with iron powder (with a higher amount on the second string).
  • Third string: a multifilament wrapped in thin stainless steel, designed to act as a "sonic bridge" between the second and fourth strings, offering durability and strength.
  • Fourth, fifth, and sixth strings: made of copper coated with a red varnish to reduce touch noise and prevent metal allergies.
  • Sixth string: uses aerospace-grade multifilament fibers for superior acoustic efficiency compared to traditional materials.

The goal is perfect tonal harmony, avoiding excessive brilliance that could unbalance the overall sound.

What materials and construction choices set this instrument apart?

The solid cedar top ensures the warm, rich tone of a classical guitar, with particular emphasis on low frequencies. The neck and bridge are made of mahogany, while the fretboard and headstock finishing are in walnut, avoiding expensive or rare tropical woods.
The black embossed ABS body, similar to an ‘Ovation’ style, is a sustainable choice that reduces wood consumption, lowers costs, and enhances both acoustic volume and low-frequency resonance. In the future, we plan to replace ABS with a bioplastic.

Additional distinctive features include:

  • A neck width similar to that of a classical guitar for greater familiarity.
  • Neck joint at the 14th fret (instead of the 12th), offering more versatility and an elegant design.

Why Aren't They Amplified?

Our instruments are designed to offer an extraordinary acoustic volume, eliminating the need for a built-in amplification system. Adding a pickup or preamp would have resulted in a cost increase and would have altered the purely acoustic nature of the instrument. Our priority is to ensure a pure and natural sound experience, maintaining the excellent balance between playability and tonal quality. However, if you wish to amplify the instrument, you can always rely on a trusted luthier for the installation of a suitable system.

Why did you choose that bridge attachment system?

Our innovative bridge attachment system meets two needs: functionality and design. Thanks to this solution, all six strings transfer tension directly to the soundboard, reducing stress on a compact bridge. Additionally, this approach provides a distinctive aesthetic that makes our instrument unique.
